Carrie Swift, Certified Diabetes Educator, received a national award of Diabetes Educator of the Year in 2013 from the Diabetes Care and Education (DCE) dietetic practice group of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. DCE is one of the largest Academy practice groups with almost 6,000 members.
Kadlec Regional Medical Center's Respiratory Department was recognized as one of the Best of 2013 Respiratory Care Departments in the nation by RT Magazine, a professional journal for respiratory care providers. Recipients were nominated by physicians, peers and patients.
Kadlec’s Joint Care Center received the Joint Commission certification in hip and knee replacement. Kadlec is the first hospital in the Tri-Cities to receive this certification.
The Joint Commission’s Disease-Specific Care Certification Program, is designed to evaluate clinical programs across the continuum of care. Certification requirements address three core areas: compliance with consensus-based national standards; effective use of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines to manage and optimize care; and an organized approach to performance measurement and improvement activities.

The Emergency Nurses Association has announced that Kadlec Regional Medical Center was one of 20 recipients of the first annual Lantern Awards. Kadlec Regional Medical Center is one of 32 hospitals across the country participating in the second phase of a study designed to improve the quality and safety of patient care. Transforming Care at the Bedside (TCAB) is a national program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Institute for Health Care Improvement. This new phase began in 2009 and is a two-year program.
