I have a viral induced asthma, which means I'm fine unless I get a virus. I had not been ill for almost 3 years and was doing extremely well. Dr. Cunanan had told me that I was doing fine and only needed to come back if I was having problems. When I got a virus in June and my asthma became a problem again, I was not able to get an appointment with Dr. Cunanan because I was told I was basically a new patient and would have to get a new referral and would not be able to see him until November. I was finally able to get in on a cancellation approximately a week and a half later, but by then I had given up and tried Teledoc, which didn't help at all, and an urgent care clinic. It seems ridiculous that in order to remain a patient of Dr. Cunanan I need to schedule visits when I don't need them in order to be still be a patient when I do need them.

Dr. Cunanan is an excellent doctor. He is always up to speed on my current health status, always remembers and discusses the previous visit, and has a very good plan of action based on my status during my visit. Highly recommended.

Seeing Dr. Cunanan was a positive experience that makes me believe that there ARE some really good doctors out there. He was not judgemental, he was considerate and informative. His chair side manner was professional and he made it very easy to communicate with him. I had no unanswered questions when I left his office.

[...] He's ignoring things I believe are important to improving my health or determining what the real problem may be. I think he's trying to only treat me for severe persistent asthma and not checking for underlying problem that may be getting worse while being ignored. I take lots of medicine and still struggle and have serious problems breathing and being active. I had a Major Allergic reaction last week, went to hospital. lymph nodes in my neck swelled and couldn't breath, I couldn't stop coughing with heavy wheezing. I sent Dr. Cunanan a message about it hoping for advice if i should keep doing same meds or come in. All he said back was " hope you feel better" He's my doctor not a friend I was just dropping a note too. I need a Doctor with compassion who really wants to help me get better. I think his response should have been to advise if I should keep taking new medicine I recently started or stop, or come in get tests, xrays or whatever's needed to determine how to go forward. I want to keep trying new medicine recently started to give full- fledged try, but don't know if safe to continue. I feel like maybe a new doctor would be good for second opinion as my doctor seems stuck in a box, not being able to think outside of it.

he admitted he didn't have any answers for my condition. didn't say he'd investigate, didnt do anymore testing, didn't suggest pulmonary rehab, didn't give parameters for when to change treatment plan or seek out further evaluation or emergency care, didn't refer to another provider who might have an answer, made me feel like I'd made up documented data somehow while asleep! felt dismissed and unbelieved with no where else to go to find answers. went home and had to do my own research. could have ordered a cardiopulmonary exercise test, could have given warning about how hypoxemia affects heart, glucose, muscles, sleep quality etc. disappointed.

I feel that Dr. Cunanun really cares about his patients. On my last appointment I was quite emotional realizing the severity of my condition and he was genuinely concerned and cared. He explained things to me in a professional, yet caring manor. I think he is great!
