Donors fully fund surgical system
Gifts totaling more than $2 million purchased an advanced surgical system that provides patients the highest standard of care.
An outpouring of donor support allowed for a second robotic surgery system to debut at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in 2023. Having an additional da Vinci Surgical System increases the number of patients eligible for a less invasive surgical option and reduces the need to transfer people out of the region for surgery performed far from home.
“Generous donors helped shape the landscape of care at Kadlec Regional Medical Center, which includes robotic-assisted surgery,” said Juan Cordero, M.D., a cardiothoracic surgeon who performs procedures using the da Vinci system. “By offering more patients this option, we can effectively treat a wide range of conditions with less pain, faster recovery and a reduced risk of complications following a procedure.”
Kadlec first began using a robotic-assisted surgery system in 2012. A surgeon seated at a console controls instruments with a greater range of motion than a human hand, allowing for detailed precision. By meeting the ever-growing demand for surgical services, donors paved the way for a future filled with vibrant health and wellbeing for all who seek care.
