Volunteers with an impact. That’s Kadlec Auxiliary. The group was formed 70 years ago to meet the volunteer needs of the medical center. Members can be seen in a variety of areas throughout the hospital including the Kadlec Gift Shops and sewing items for patients in Kadlec’s sewing room. But beyond their volunteer hours is their heart for service. Behind what they do is the impact they make through the Auxiliary Board by allocating their Gift Shop proceeds to programs, services and capital equipment for the hospital – all for the benefit of patients and families at Kadlec.
This past month, the Auxiliary accepted a proposal to fund the Kadlec Healthy Ages program with a $750,000 gift over five years. Healthy Ages is a part of Kadlec's Community Health department which is funded by donations received through Kadlec Foundation. Healthy Ages is committed to the health care needs and concerns of the 50+ population. Benefits include a dedicated program coordinator, free monthly educational seminars and no cost assistance with Medicare enrollment questions.
The transformational gift pledges the Auxiliary’s commitment to our over age 50 community members. Kadlec Healthy Ages is grateful to Kadlec Auxiliary for their gift dedication to fund the program over the next five years and looks forward to continuing to serve the community's needs.
The media attended a check presentation and announcement on Dec. 18 and learned more about the substantial gift and what it means to the community we serve.
